Aiden Markram brings up his 10th Test fifty

Aiden Markram has raised his 10th half-century in Tests after South Africa won the toss and opted to bat at the Wanderers in Johannesburg. The hosts have made quite a few changes to their playing XI for the second Test match of the home series against West Indies.

Spinners Keshav Maharaj and Simon Harmer feature in South Africa’s XI, replacing Marco Jansen and Senuran Muthusamy, who played as the only spinner in the first Test and bowled eight wicketless overs. Anrich Nortje too misses out from the bowling attack that played in Centurion after being asked to rest as a precautionary measure following a groin injury.

Ryan Rickelton and Wiaan Mulder have been drafted into the XI with Keegan Petersen, who made pedestrian scores of 14 and 7 in Centurion, warming the bench. Heinrich Klaasen, who kept wickets in the first Test, retains his place and could likely continue as the wicketkeeper in Johannesburg with Rickelton playing as a specialist batter.
