Delhi Capitals flexed their batting might in the WIPL encounter against UP Warriorz. Meg Lanning and Shafali Verma got them off to a flier once again, adding a 60+ stand within the powerplay. Shafali made room to slam a six over long-off, a maximum that would surely make it to the highlights reel. The skipper carried on and notched up another 70, Alice Capsey came out and kept the boundaries flowing, while Jess Jonassen played a blinder towards the end.
Jemimah Rodrigues too played her part to perfection, adding an unbeaten 67 with Jonassen. UP Warriorz read too much into the surface, so much so that they delayed the introduction of Deepti Sharma and Sophie Ecclestone which resulted in DC getting off to a blazing start. This is a massive total and without Grace Harris to bail them out, it is not going to be easy.
