200-run mark breached twice in 5 WIPL games

Meg Lanning in action.

223 runs were scored in the first game of the WIPL and 211 have been put on the board today. Delhi Capitals are flexing their batting might in the competition. Meg Lanning and Shafali Verma got them off to a flier once again and added a 60+ stand within the powerplay. The skipper carried on and notched up another 70, Alice Capsey came out and kept the boundaries flowing, while Jess Jonassen played a blinder towards the end.

Jemimah Rodrigues too played her part to perfection, adding an unbeaten 67 with Jonassen. UP Warriorz read too much into the surface, so much so that they delayed the introduction of Deepti Sharma and Sophie Ecclestone which resulted in DC getting off to a blazing start. This is a massive total and without Grace Harris to bail them out, it is not going to be easy.

Earlier in the tournament, Royal Challengers Bangalore suffered two heavy defeats in two days.
