England are three wickets down against Bangladesh in the second ODI of the three-match series, at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Mirpur. Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal won the toss and elected to bowl as the hosts eye an equalizer following England’s comprehensive win on Wednesday.
The reigning ODI champions England made two changes to their side, bringing in all-rounder Sam Curran and pace bowler Saqib Mahmood for Chris Woakes and Jofra Archer. Bangladesh, on the other hand, went unchanged.
Inserted, England blazed off the blocks courtesy Jason Roy’s attractive fifty but kept losing wickets at the other end. Phillip Salt, Dawid Malan and James Vince failed to get starts, with the latter getting agitated by the number of dots he’d played. He attempted a drive against the wily Taijul Islam, only for the ball to graze the edge and settle into the mitts of Mushfiqur Rahim. Vince has misfired in the opening two matches of the rubber.
