Indian vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane has thrown his weight behind Ben Stokes’ decision to take an ”indefinite break” from all cricket to prioritize his mental well-being and rest his injured left index finger.
Rahane reckoned cricketers strive to perform at optimal capacity and sound mental is a key component of the process. He added that players could go through difficult periods and it is only prudent to take a step back in such testing times, while maintaining that the Indian camp fully supports the England all-rounder’s call to withdraw ahead of the series opener starting August 4 at Trent Bridge.
