Harry Brook plays a majestic lofted drive off Tim Southee

Even as England were reduced to 154 for 4 on the opening day of the first Test against New Zealand, they didn’t look to consolidate. Harry Brook came out firing on all cylinders, a method that had proven effective for the batters preceding him – driving full deliveries outside off. Initially, it was Blair Tickner, and later the experienced Tim Southee, who were at the recieveing end of his sublime strokes. The loft over mid-off for a maximum took the cake, as New Zealand conceded runs thick and fast despite chipping away at the wickets at regular intervals.
