England swatted aside West Indies in the opening Group 2 encounter of the Women’s T20 World Cup in Paarl, with Nat Sciver-Brunt and Heather Knight sealing the manageable chase thanks to an unbroken 67-run stand. Hayley Matthews top-scored with 42 off 32 for West Indies but England were barely daunted by the 136-run target, as the top-order dealt in boundaries to secure victory with 33 balls to spare. Sophie Ecclestone played a pivotal role in keeping West Indies to the not-so-strong total, picking up three wickets for 23.
