Ravichandran Ashwin lured Usman Khawaja into a booming cover drive and had him caught at slip by Virat Kohli. Ashwin could have had the other left-handed opener, David Warner early as well if only Kohli had pouched a regulation take at slip. But instead he had to wait a bit for the scalp of the southpaw, as Warner drove him for back-to-back boundaries. However, Ashwin soon had him trapped LBW with a ball that went on with the arm from around the wicket. Warner’s review was to no avail as DRS adjudged it be clipping the leg stump.
Ashwin strikes in his first over, Khawaja goes for five.
