India bounced back in style in the afternoon session taking six wickets. Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith looked set for a big show, but Ravindra Jadeja got one to spin past Marnus for KS Bharat to effect a razor-sharp stumping. The resurgent left-arm spinner trapped Matt Renshaw plumb next ball and soon crashed through Smith’s defences. Alex Carey came out attacking playing sweeps and reverse sweeps, and even brandished a couple of drives against Mohammad Siraj as Australia got quick runs in that brisk stand with Peter Handscomb.
However, Ashwin knocked over Carey, then outsmarted Cummins with a ball that straightened a touch. Jadeja trapped Murphy plumb in front to reduce Australia to 174/8.
Alex Carey is going at more than a run-a-ball 🔥
