West Indies openers Chanderpaul, Braithwaite set unique Test record

West Indies captain Kraigg Brathwaite and Tagenarine Chanderpaul became the only duo to bat on all five days of a Test match during the series opener against Zimbabwe in Bulawayo on Wednesday.

Brathwaite and Chanderpaul added 336 in the first innings over three days after West Indies elected to bat first. The visitors declared with a total of 447 for six before Zimbabwe put up 379 for nine. Zimbabwe’s declaration meant Brathwaite and Chanderpaul returned to bat late on Day 4, entering Stumps at 21 for no loss in 13 overs. The pair added 11 to the overnight total before Tagenarine was castled by Brad Evans for 15.
