Jos Buttler and Dawid Malan joined hands for a mammoth 232-run stand after England were reduced to an alarming 14/3. The duo started slow, picking ones and twos on offer before opening up on the other side of the drinks intervals, once spin was introduced from both ends. Malan was dropped on 46 by Tabraiz Shamsi who couldn’t hold onto a difficult return catch but other than that, there was little that the duo offered. Buttler ended up clearing the ropes seven times in aggregate before he holed out in the deep against Marco Jansen.
