Pakistan’s Babar Azam was adjudged the ODI Cricketer of the Year following his prolific run in 2022. He maintained his lead at the top of the ODI rankings during the year, scoring 679 runs in nine games at a fantastic average of 84.87. His returns included three centuries and five fifties.
Babar was the only player to breach the 2000-run mark in the calendar year – all formats included – that made him the frontrunner for the prestigious award. He led Pakistan to their first T20 World Cup final since 2009, and in the Test circuit scored 1184 runs with commendable consistency despite the results not going his team’s way.
