A tense three-wicket victory over Melbourne Stars helped Sydney Thunder finish fourth in the standings as they arrange a fixture with Brisbane Heat in the Eliminator. Chasing 120 for victory at the MCG, Thunder crossed the line in the penultimate over with three wickets to spare.
Thunder struggled for the first half of their chase, mustering only 49 runs for the loss of four wickets, but Daniel Sams’s 28 off 18 brought the innings back on track. Adam Zampa dropped an absolute sitter to reprieve Chris Green, who remained unbeaten to take Thunder home.
