India were lifted out of a hole by a patient stand between KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya. The duo went about their rebuilding job with graceful serenity to add 75 runs off 119 balls. But with 55 more needed to gain an unassailable lead in the three-match series, Pandya was out edging behind off Chamika Karunaratne.
In a delicate position again, the hosts were helped by an in-form Axar Patel who hit 21off the 30 runs he shared with Rahul before holing out to deep extra cover. Rahul raised his 12th ODI fifty soon thereafter and managed to tick off the remaining runs with a confident Kuldeep Yadav, who had earlier starred with the ball.
