The Hundred provided yet another world-class match-up as England captain Joe Root came on to bowl against his Test understudy Ben Stokes in Monday’s evening fixture between the Trent Rockets and Northern Superchargers.
The all-rounder managed to give himself room and carve his skipper to the deep cover boundary as Root looked to tuck him up with his ever-improving off-spinners. The fun was short-lived, however, as Stokes holed out to Alex Hales off the bowling of Matt Carter for 9. It seems that the quality of cricket and calibre of player on display at the Hundred is one thing that cannot be criticised.
