Overseas recruit Faf du Plessis and Cameron Bancroft gave Perth Scorchers a solid platform in their manageable 156-run chase. But Kane Richardson changed the complexion of the game. The pacer was eyeing a hat-trick when he removed Adam Lyth with the last ball of an over and du Plessis with the first of another, but he could not apply the finishing touches to the feat.
Although Bancroft was spectacularly run out by Will Sutherland, Josh Inglis took the charge and put his side on the verge of victory.
