India captain KL Rahul conceded that there were some nerves in the dressing room on the fourth morning of the Mirpur Test before a gutsy 71-run partnership between Shreyas Iyer and R Ashwin took the visitors past the finish line to complete their 2-0 series win in Bangladesh.
Rahul lavished praise on Iyer, who played three crucial knocks through the Tests, to be one of the chief architects of India’s success. “When someone is performing consistently for you, it is very heartening. He has been around for a long time and has had to wait for his opportunities and really happy to see that when has had those opportunities, he has grabbed them with both hands,” Rahul remarked.
