Saud Shakeel becomes Rehan Ahmed’s maiden Test wicket

18-year-old Rehan Ahmed made his Test debut for England in the third and final Test match against Pakistan. The leg-spinner came into the side as a replacement for Will Jacks, becoming the youngest player to play Test cricket for England Men’s team aged 18 years and 126 days.

Rehan has had a good outing so far in Karachi, having picked up Saud Shakeel to claim his maiden Test wicket. He planted a seed of doubt in Shakeel’s mind with a lovely googly and then followed it up with a floaty legbreak around off. The batter was on the front foot looking to smother it into the off-side, but the stock ball caught the inside edge and then deflected onto the pad before lobbing up in front of short leg. Ollie Pope had his eyes on the ball, and put in a dive across to his right to grab a low one-handed catch.
