Earlier, leg-spinner Abrar Ahmed captured seven wickets on Test debut as Pakistan restricted England to 281. Abrar dismissed Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Joe Root, Ollie Pope, Harry Brook, Ben Stokes and Will Jacks, before Zahid Mahmood mopped up the tail.
