In a thrilling first day, debutant mystery spinner Abrar Ahmed ended up with 7/114 on debut as England paid the price for adhering to the Bazball doctrine of keeping the tempo up at all times. The leg-spinner, one of Pakistan’s three changes for the second Test, struck in his very first over when he slipped a wrong ‘un through Zak Crawley’s defence.
