Opting to bat, the Afghanistan openers set the platform with a fine 84-run stand and despite lack of boundaries for around 11 overs, the arrival of Najibullah Zadran at two drop lifted the spirits of the visitors. He struck in excess of 160 and gave the side the much-needed impetus at the end. Ibrahim Zadran was the standout performer for Afghanistan, cracking a ton with the help of 11 boundaries. Sri Lanka did drop a few catches, but there were also moments of fielding brilliance in between.
