Jofra Archer is inching closer to a return to international cricket after an encouraging display for the England Lions in a warm-up fixture against the senior team in Abu Dhabi. The express quick has been away from first-class cricket since March 2021 because of elbow and back injuries but showed promising signs on comeback. The 27-year-old sent down nine overs and, though he did not take a wicket, he exhibited glimpses of his former self, hitting Zak Crawley on the helmet with a searing bouncer in the first over of the match.
