Nicholas Pooran steps down as West Indies limited-overs captain

Nicholas Pooran has stepped down as white-ball captain of the West Indies in the aftermath of a disappointing first round exit in the T20 World Cup 2022, Cricket West Indies confirmed on Monday, November 21. Pooran officially took over the reins from Kieron Pollard in May this year after the experienced all-rounder retired from international cricket. Under Pooran’s leadership, West Indies won just four out of 17 ODIs and eight out of 23 T20Is. In the recently concluded World Cup, West Indies beat Zimbabwe but suffered upsets at the hands of both Ireland and Scotland and couldn’t progress to Super 12s.
