Sixers advance to WBBL knockouts with come-from-behind victory

A fluent, undefeated 92-run stand between Sophie Ecclestone and Erin Burns helped Sydney Sixers cross the line with three balls to go in the clash of the table-toppers against Brisbane Heat and register their ninth win of the season. The victory also guaranteed a berth in the knockouts for the Sixers, who are primed for a top two finish.

Heat posted 163 for 5 after being put into bat. Kate Peterson’s 4 for 17 through the middle overs had them in a stew despite a 41-run opening stand between Danni Wyatt and Georgia Voll. From 70/1 at the start of the 10th over they slipped to 101/5. However, Jess Jonassen’s late assault, in the company of Amelia Kerr, helped them gather 62 runs in the last 28 deliveries.
