England’s Head Coach Matthew Mott is hopeful that Ben Stokes will take a U-turn on his ODI retirement in order to play the 2023 World Cup in India. Earlier this year, the Durham all-rounder had announced his decision to quit 50-over cricket citing the challenges of coping with a packed schedule.
With the World Cup less than a year away, England are not scheduled to play a modicum of T20Is over the next few months – a factor that Mott hopes can persuade Stokes to make a comeback to the ODI fold.
