Sam Billings has backed out of the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League, where he was expected to be a part of the Kolkata Knight Riders squad, reasoning that his focus is on the red-ball format with Kent, his county.
Billings, the 31-year-old keeper-bat, was snapped up by Knight Riders for Rs 2 crore (US$ 266,000 approx. then) in the mega auction ahead of the 2022 season. He scored 169 runs in his eight knocks at a strike rate of 122.46 and average of 24.14, while effecting seven dismissals behind the sticks.
Have taken the tough decision that I won’t be taking part in the next IPL @KKRiders
