Will Smeed has signed a white-ball-only contract at Somerset in a pathbreaking move that casts a light on the widening gap between formats in English cricket. Smeed is one of the most promising young batters in the English domestic circuit and made his debut for the Lions earlier this year. He has given a fine account of himself for Somerset in the T20 Blast across the last three seasons and in August became the first player to smack a century in the Hundred, representing Birmingham Phoenix.
โI just feel that this is the right decision for me and Somerset at the current timeโ
