Buttler credits Matthew Mott for England’s T20 World Cup win

Ben Stokes brought his grit and gumption to the fore to usher England to their second T20 World Cup win, this time against Pakistan on Sunday at the MCG. After limiting Pakistan to a measly score of 137/8, England had a bumpy start to the chase, losing Alex Hales, Phil Salt, and the dangerous Jos Buttler inside the Powerplay. Pakistan kept showing the stomach for a fight with regular strikes, but they didn’t have enough runs on the board as the white-ball supremos added another feather to their cap.

”This is the icing on the cake, to win the T20 World Cup, just immensely proud. A long journey and a few changes, but we’re reaping the rewards. Fantastic tournament, Pakistan (tour) was a valuable time for the group, but this is a way away from the Ireland game. He’s [head coach Matthew Mott] fitted in really well, quite a few Aussies with us. He’s led the coaching staff really well, gives the players great freedom and allows us to go out and trust ourselves,” Buttler told the official broadcaster.
