England saw through a spirited bowling performance from Pakistan to become only the second team after West Indies to lift the men’s T20 World Cup trophy twice. Ben Stokes, who anchored the jittery chase with an undefeated 52, said that England put behind the shocking loss against Ireland after taking their lessons. Ireland managed to upset England by the virtue of DLS in a Super 12 rain-curtailed encounter.
”With that (defeat to Ireland) being so early in the competition we obviously had to address it, say what had to be said and then let it go. In tournaments like these you can’t carry baggage with you, that was a little blip on the way, credit to Ireland for turning up and beating us, but the best teams learn from their mistakes and not let it affect them. Pretty good evening. Representing your country in World Cups is amazing, but it has been a good one,” Stokes told the official broadcaster.
🗣️ “What is it about you and World Cup finals then?”
🗣️ “Err, Dunno” 🤣Ben Stokes, what a man 🙌 pic.twitter.com/3DuXvEe3NL
