In what proved to be a nervy chase at the end, Ben Stokes maintained composure to guide England over the line with an unbeaten 36-ball 42. Run-scoring was difficult towards the fag end of the innings, much like it was for Sri Lanka earlier in the game, with wickets tumbling at regular intervals. However, Stokes’ innings ensured England’s qualification to the semis and also brought down the curtains on the campaign for the hosts and the defending champions, Australia.
