Glenn Maxwell and Mitchell Starc’s twofold-strike in the opening overs had Ireland in tatters on 25/5 by the end of the fourth over. Irrespective of Lorcan Tucker’s valiant hand of 71*, the result of the match was a forgone conclusion. Starc took out Curtis Campher with a booming inswinger second ball and then nailed the perfect yorker to consign Dockrell to a four-ball duck. That Starc was later taken to the cleaners – conceding 43 in his next three overs – was barely going to have a drastic impact on the result.
