Shubman Gill plays an array of typically scintillating strokes

India’s modest chase of 100 runs was led by opener Shubman Gill, who was unfortunate to miss out on a fifty, and completed on the first ball of the 20th over by the in-form Shreyas Iyer, who crafted 28 not out off just 23 deliveries. Gill’s confident pulls and sweetly timed drives kept the scoreboard ticking before Lungi Ngidi rapped him in front of the stumps with India three away from the win. Iyer, however, flat-batted Marco Jansen into the stands to seal the deal.

Brief scores: South Africa 99 all out in 27.1 overs (Heinrich Klaasen 34; Kuldeep Yadav 4-18, Mohammed Siraj 2-17) lost to India 105/3 in 19.1 overs (Shubman Gill 49, Shreyas Iyer 28*; Lungi Ngidi 1-21) by 7 wickets.
