Well-compiled fifties from Aiden Markram (79) and Reeza Hendricks (74) in a 129-run third wicket stand provided a robust platform for South Africa. However, Mohammed Siraj’s excellent death bowling meant only 28 runs coming off the last five overs as India restricted South Africa to 278/7 in the second ODI in Ranchi on Sunday, October 9. On a slow and low deck, the change of pace worked well for the Indian bowlers.
In reply, India have been buoyed by the alliance between Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan after a couple of early wickets, with the southpaw climbing into Anrich Nortje’s bumper with glee.
