Hammer blow for India as Jasprit Bumrah ruled out of T20 World Cup

The faint hopes of Jasprit Bumrah managing to get fit in the nick of time for the T20 World Cup have vanished as the Indian pacer has been officially ruled out of the T20 World Cup in Australia with a back injury. In a media release, the BCCI stated that the call was taken following a detailed assessment and in consultation with the specialists. He is the second key player of India to miss the marquee event after all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was sidelined last month with a knee injury.

Bumrah was ruled out of the ongoing T20I series against South Africa after complaining of back pain during practice ahead of the series. Post scans in Trivandrum, he was sent to the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru for a detailed prognosis.
