Sarfaraz Khan bangs on national selectors’ door with classy 125*

Defending champions Saurashtra suffered ignominy on the opening day of the Irani Cup as they were bowled out for a shambolic 98 in the first innings. After the pacers’ ran roughshod, Rest of India was powered by an archetypal quickfire ton from Sarfaraz Khan that handed them the lead. Skipper Hanuma Vihari characteristically ground it out at one end with a 145-ball vigil for his 62. But at the other end, Sarfaraz went full monty, crusing to almost a run-a-ball 125, out of which an astonishing 88 came in just boundaries.
