Malsha blinder prolongs Verma’s lean patch

Sri Lanka’s decision to bowl first was vindicated as both Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Varma were prised out in the PowerPlay in India’s Asia Cup campaign opener. However, India went on the offensive soon after with Jemimah Rodrigues’ 53-ball 76 setting up a dominant first innings total. Jemimah had ample support from skipper Harmanpreet Kaur who contributed 33 in an important 92-run stand for the third wicket. In the chase of 150, Sri Lanka were never in contention after losing a couple of wickets to run-outs.
