Arshdeep breaches Miller’s defences with a brute of an inswinger

Any apprehensions due to India’s frontline pacers not being involved in the series opener against South Africa were put to bed by an exhibition of swing bowling by Arshdeep Singh and Deepak Chahar upfront with the new ball. Sure there was a grass cover on the pitch, but most in South Africa’s top-order fell due to lack of foot movement. Chahar set up Temba Bavuma with a series of outswingers before nipping one back in viciously to bamboozle the South African captain. Arshdeep broke their back with three strikes in his opening over – Quinton de Kock chopped one onto his stumps, Rilee Rossouw nicked behind trying to drive away from the body and David Miller had his sticks rattled.
