Charlie Dean and Kate Cross kept India at bay for about five overs after England’s top-order implosion before Jhulan Goswami bagged a wicket in her final over by having Cross bowled. With the match heading towards a tight finish, India had some tense moments as Dean and No. 11 Davies joined forces for a 35-run partnership to get England within touching distance of the lowly 170-run target. But the game ended in disappointment for the hosts as Deepti found that Dean had sneaked out of the crease and whipped the bails off. However, Dean put up a strong resistance and it is for impactful performances like these throughout the season that she has earned the PCA Royal London Player of the Year award.
