Siraj delivers the goods for Warwickshire on County debut

Only 56 overs of play were possible on the opening day of the County Championship Division One clash between Somerset and Warwickshire at Edgbaston in Birmingham. Somerset won the toss and elected to bat first, but things didn’t go their way as their top order surrendered abjectly. Mohammad Siraj, on his County debut, bowled with vim and vigour as his four-wicket haul broke the spine of Somerset’s batting line-up. Lewis Gregory was the lone ranger, and it was due to his mitigation that Somerset managed to wiggle their way out of the quagmire.

Brief scores: Somerset 182/8 in 56 overs (Lewis Gregory 60*; Mohammad Siraj 4/54) vs Warwickshire
