Allrounder Shadab Khan’s fielding lapses in the final against Sri Lanka on Sunday cost Pakistan the Asia Cup 2022. Things were going fine for Pakistan till Sri Lanka were 58/5 and Shadab had bamboozled Sri Lankan skipper Dasun Shanaka with a wrong ‘un. But Bhanuka Rajapaksa led a stunning counterattack in the company of Wanindu Hasaranga, and later, Chamika Karunaratne, the last recognised batter. Shadab parried a skier over the boundary to let Rajapaksa off the hook at 142/6 and then collided into Asif Ali, who was settling nicely underneath the ball, to bungle up another chance.
