Joe Root’s innings came to a conclusion in the first over of the final session on Day 3 as Marco Jansen had him nicking to third slip. Debutant Harry Brook joined Pope and he too started off with boundaries, helping England close in on the lead. Brook, however, fell on the other side of a brief rain interruption, mistiming a pull off Jansen. Pope continued positively, raising a 62-ball fifty with a top-edge over the ‘keeper’s head for a four off Jansen. South Africa tried to claw back into the contest as Nortje got Ben Stokes to edge to first slip while Pope nicked a Kagiso Rabada delivery to the ‘keeper. Broad also fell to Rabada before bad light forced early Stumps.
The wickets are tumbling now! Rabada ends Pope’s knock on 67, England are six down with a lead of 15 #ENGvSA
