Georgia Davis moves swiftly to inflict sharp run out

Elyse Villani’s quickfire half-century, following a smart bowling show, helped Trent Rockets keep their qualification hopes alive with a eight-wicket thrashing of Welsh Fire at Trent Bridge on Monday. Bryony Smith, Nat Sciver and Katherine Brunt all picked two wickets each to limit the visitors to just 100, before Villani’s unbeaten fifty in a 64-run partnership with Mignon du Peez scripted an easy victory.

The 33-run stand between Sarah Bryce (23 off 26) and Nicola Carey (27 off 29) was broken by the opener’s run-out. It was Lauren Filer’s two fours at the end that propelled Fire to the 100-run mark.
