England Test captain Ben Stokes has further elaborated on his struggles with mental health, stating that he has been taking medications for anxiety. Speaking about it in his Amazon documentary, Stokes revealed that he continued to take the medicines even after the six-month hiatus that he took last year to prioritize his mental health.
The break that the Durham all-rounder took was welcomed by the ECB and he too has constantly spoken about the need to be open and frank regarding mental health. Teammate
Joe Root applauded Stokes for his honesty in talking about a topic that’s often regarded as taboo, and reckoned it was an act of courage from the incumbent Test skipper.
