Anrich Nortje joined the party at Lord’s with 40 minutes to go for Lunch on Day 1. It’s a familiar mode of dismissal mode for the in-form Jonny Bairstow. The full and straight missile was clocked at 93mph full as Bairstow was beaten for pace and found his stump dismantled. England have been reduced to 55/4 and Dean Elgar’s faith in his bowling attack seems to have been vindicated.
However, despite the best conditions for bowling on offer all summer, Ollie Pope has nicely chugged along to 29 off 43, putting away anything too full or too short.
