The Bangladesh Cricket Board has appointed Shakib Al Hasan as the T20I skipper until the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Australia later this year. The announcement comes after Shakib pulled out of his controversial deal with Betwinner, a betting platform, and had a behind-the-doors meeting with BCB Chief Nazmul Hasan at his house.
Bangladesh also rang the changes in their T20I squad for the Asia Cup, with Liton Das ruled out from the tournament due to injuries. Shakib returns to lead the squad, which also witnesses the return of Mushfiqur Rahim, Sabbir Rahman, Ebadat Hossain and Mohammad Saifuddin.
