With Dimuth Karunaratne remaining out of the field for most of Pakistan’s innings, Sri Lanka had to send Niroshan Dickwella to open alongside Oshada Fernando. The duo batted positively right from the start. Dickwella’s enterprising innings was cut short when he cut a delivery from Naseem Shah only to offer an edge to the keeper.
Despite the early dismissal, Sri Lanka’s approach didn’t waver, and as a result, the hosts kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Oshada was trapped leg-before by a Yasir Shah slider on 19 and Kusal Mendis fell to Mohammad Nawaz while attempting to sweep to a full pitched delivery.
