Rassie van der Dussen, Aiden Markram set up Proteas’ win

A sublime hundred from Rassie van der Dussen and an allround effort from Aiden Markram were key to South Africa taking an early series lead over England on Tuesday, July 19. Van der Dussen’s ton ensured South Africa breached the 330-run mark after opting to bat before the bowlers kept the opposition in check as Ben Stokes’ ODI farewell ended on a disappointing note for England. Having castled Joe Root, Anrich Nortje also removed Sam Curran and Adil Rashid in the same over before returning to add to his tally and finish with a four-fer.

Brief scores: South Africa 333/5 in 50 overs (Rassie van der Dussen 134, Aiden Markram 77; Liam Livingstone 2-29) beat England 271 in 46.5 overs (Joe Root 86, Jonny Bairstow 63; Anrich Nortje 4/53) by 62 runs
