Mohammed Siraj had bowled a brilliant first over in which he removed both Jonny Bairstow and Joe Root. However, unfazed by that double strike, Jason Roy and Ben Stokes are launching an assault with a flurry of boundaries. They race to 59/2 after just 8 overs. Roy is on 35 already off 21 balls.
India’s seaming all-rounder Hardik Pandya although kept denying Jason Roy the room he usually craves for and the dot-ball pressure results in the wicket of the opener. It was a short ball, once again without any room, that does the trick as Roy only manages a top edge in his attempt to jab it to the leg-side. Rishabh Pant takes the catch as India now have their third wicket.
“THIS is what Hardik Pandya can do” 👏
Breakthrough for India! Jason Roy top edges it high and it falls into Rishabh Pant’s gloves 🧤#ENGvIND pic.twitter.com/tmhnEh4fed
