Having shown his range of shots in the recently-concluded New Zealand series, England lynchpin Joe Root unleashed the reverse-scoop again, this time off Shardul Thakur. The right-hander has been in sensational form this year which he has carried over from 2021 when he scored truckloads of runs both in England and on foreign soil. He started off with 115*, 176, and 86* against New Zealand in the three-Test series recently and extended his purple patch by scoring a century in the Edgbaston Test which the hosts won to draw the series level 2-2.
