Lancashire seamer Richard Gleeson called up to England’s T20I squad

England have handed a maiden T20I call-up to Lancashire seamer Richard Gleeson for the three-match series against India, starting July 7. The 34-year-old is currently the second-highest wicket-taker in the ongoing T20 Blast 2022 with 20 scalps in 12 games at an average of 16.10.

Former Test skipper Joe Root returns to the ODI fold after a gap of an year, having last donned the blue against Sri Lanka last July. Consequently, Dawid Malan misses out on an ODI spot and has been included for the T20Is only. The squads will be captained by Jos Buttler, who was recently promoted to white-ball captaincy following Eoin Morgan’s retirement.
